The Broccoli Thief …aka ...Friday Smile ...and Happy Birthday Emma

Firstly I want to wish my future daughter- in-law, Emma of 'Dropped Stiches'... a very Happy Birthday for today ...and in four more weeks yesterday ...it will be your Wedding Day.

The veggies last night were Duchess Potatoes …think that’s how its spelt … Garlic mushrooms … and yummy fresh broccoli. The remainder veggies were left on the cooker and covered ….obviously not well enough …
As  I returned with the plates it was obvious ….as I nearly slid …that someone had uncovered the broccoli  and left bits over the floor. I picked up a large piece that was to be deposited in the bin and turned to pick up the brush….already the thief was trying to retrieve his prize so I dashed to get my camera … returned said morsel to the table ….and waited.

Look at Barnaby’s tongue …..licking his lips with anticipation ...while Willow looks on.

 Nearly got it
 Success

Sorry picture quality is not the best ....but I hope the escapade made you smile.

Take Care xx

Hehehe You want to try feeding those cats lol. Really didn't think they would like broccoli but they have proved me wrong :-) Thanks for the giggle.

Ha ha, that is cute. If she is like my cat, she tends to play with her food rather than eat it, especially veggies.

Fab post, I just love picturs like this and it was good your camera was handy.
did they actually eat it or was it just for play.
I often say to Mr.T that I should have the camera round my neck all the time, I miss lovely shots of the little beggers sometimes.
Keep warm Shozzy, it looks like we're in for a cold time.

They just never grow up, do they.

BoJangles would do the same given half the chance but I know he wouldn’t eat it….he prefers mice……yuck!

Have a great weekend.

Oh Angie, love the pics, clever of you to catch them in the act like that. They are just like Meg & Tom. I have left out veggies and cold spuds for the chooks and they have pinched those. Tom will eat almost anything.
Love your cats, thanks the laugh

Amazing, a cat that likes greens, well two cats, even more amazing. The Boss would treat broccoli with total disdain!!! Brilliant that you got it on film - definitely something to bring a smile. Elizabeth xx

Hi Angie, here's the EM's recipe for boiled fruit cake - it's easy to make and delicious to eat.

The EM’s Boiled Fruit Cake
Ingredients:
350g mixed fruit
110g caster sugar
110g margarine (Stork)
225g self-raising flour
1 egg, beaten
275mls water

Method:

1. put margarine, water, sugar, fruit in pan. Bring slowly to the boil, turn down heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

2. allow to cool, preferable for a minimum 4 hours, overnight is ideal. When cool, stir in egg and flour. (as an extra nice touch 2tbs of runny honey can be added here). Mix well in the pan.

3. press into a well-greased 18cm cake tin and bake for 1½ hours at 150°C

4. When baked, remove from oven and leave to cool in the tin. Once cool it can be removed from the tin and eaten - enjoy!

Our dogs will eat absolutely anything, broccoli would just be a memory as it vanished down their throats. Great photos and I had a real chuckle at them. When is sumer coming. Bored now with all this rotten weather, we might even get flooded out despite living at the top of a hill - and it is cold. Keep those fluffy cats cosy and warm. xx Maggie
