WOYWW wk 128 ... or is it still only monday really??

I feel that this week has flown past like the Red Arrows …mind you, part of it was spent in bed …my chest was so tight and I had no energy, so I gave in … but I feel much better now ... although the cough is hanging on…. and my ribs ache a little. I just wish I could post and not moan about feeling rough …but then what’s a little moaning amongst friends’ lol.

This is my desk on Tuesday afternoon …where I am playing with my quartet of canvases but had to stop, as several ideas were circulating but going nowhere.

I do however need some advice from some of you experienced arty but messy types out there in blog land. What do you use to seal a photo when finishing off a canvas or altered creation? I had a try with PVA but it affected the surface. Any advice would be gratefully received.

This is the desk later in the day … having put canvas to the back I am playing with a Christmas card …my first this year … ‘OMG’ I can hear you exclaim …don’t worry, DD is making most of them …but I have to create a few myself, for the close family.

I tried to photo graph the final card so many times this evening, ready to post for Wednesday but it just wouldn’t work …this will give you an idea any way …its simple… except for making the tree …an idea from a Miss Arty Class … and the letters really do not look this weird … they are actually lighter shades of the green mat.

Thank you to those who dropped by last week …sorry I couldn’t make it to the end of JD's list …maybe I should start there this week, and work backwards.

Looking forward to dropping by as many desks and tables ... as I can. ...not forgetting floors, sofas, ... and kitchen work surfaces ...or bunkers, as they call them up here.!!?

Take Care xx

I've just started at the back and am working backwards. Sorry to hear about your chest - hope you are soon back to fit and well.
Do you mean photos as in original photographs of people? Very hard to seal - better to take a photocopy of them on glossy. Hope that helps.

Well, you are one card ahead of me! A lovely one at that. You are really getting into the creative zone of late and producing quite artsy stuff and I love your new WIP panels. Thanks for your lovely comment,

Well, if you can't moan to your friends, it would be a sad old world, wouldn't it?? Hope you're on the mend, there have been some wicked viruses going round.
Making the crunchy top for the lemon cake is dead simple. Use the grated zest in the cake mix, then juice the lemon while cake is cooking and mix in HUGE quantity of granulated sugar so it's wallpaper paste thickness. As soon as you bring the cake out of the overn, pour the lemony sugary mix over the top straight away, then sprinkle more sugar (!!) over the surface. Apologies to any dentists who may be reading this, lol!!

Go ahead and moan you are amongst friends. It will be our turn later. Now for a technical answer to your question about sealing. Have you tried a matt gel medium brushed over quickly with a large brush. Don't use mod podge it will leave the end product a bit tacky. Or spray with an art sealer. It will be interesting to hear what others suggest.

Hi Angie, sorry to hear you're still not good - hope you start to feel better soon. Can't help you with your canvas/photo question but I'd be interested if anyone can offer up a solution. And, I so empathise with the problems associated with photographing our creations, especially in the dark of winter - it can be a real nightmare. On getting round WOYWW each week, I now alternate between starting at the top and the bottom, hoping that somehow I'll cover everyone at least fortnightly :) Here's to a better week for you. Moan away, that's what we are here for (well one of the things). Love your canvasses and love to see them when finished.

I seal everything with either matt or gloss sealant or Glossy Accents. I smooth it over things like pictures/photos with my fingers so you don't get brushstrokes - you still get some texture on it but not to much. Well, that's what i do anyway ;)

That's one more card than me! Looks fabulous - love the tree!

Hope you feel better soon. I have come out in sympathy with you this week I reckon - keep thinking the cold is going and then it comes back with a vengeance and a new symptom. This week it's a hacking cough and keep falling asleep!

Hope you feel better soon Angie - it's not fair is it? You've had it ages!

Your canvases look to be coming along very nicely and you’re using all my favourite colours by the looks of things.
I’m not really into the “arty” side of things but I was wondering if you could use Mod Podge. I know it’s a sealer and varnish and it’s used in napkin art, so it might be worth a try.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Happy Crafting!

I hope you get over the bad cough. That time of year again
I use a krylon spray sealer. I forget the actual name of it. Try Googling.

I'm working the list backwards this week Angie, which is why it's now Saturday!! I use a spray acrylic to seal canvasses and stuff...from the art and canvas section in Hobbycraft...but don't go near it till your chest is better. Or if you're planning to be pregnant!!!
Lovely card. I think it's great that you motivate yourself to do the few..not sure I would!!

Hi. Thanks for visiting my blog and adding your suggestions about storing pens. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. My pens have been upright and I try to store them fine point down, (brush down for copics) because those are the ends I use most, but it hasn't made any difference to the drying out ones. General opinion seems to be that flat is better so I will move mine and lay them down.
Your canvas looks interesting by the way. I am afraid I have no suggestions for sealing photos etc as I have never tried it. Hope someone came up with a good idea for you. Kate x

For being # 1 this week, I'm awfully late visiting. I'm so sorry but, after a computer crash, I had to stop by and get a bit of inspiration from your work space. I hope your chest is better by now.

I would seal any photocopy (not original photo) with a spray sealer or Krylon fixative. Hope you can find something similar in the UK. Love the tree, too!
