I know my Limits

I have to admit that am a very poor recycler but as the Douwe Egbert coffee jars I was washing up, are such a nice shape …and I have used them for storage …I pondered over what else could be done with them …and then it happened …. a flash of inspiration …TEA LIGHT HOLDERS ….for the garden. The thought progressed to painting them pretty colours … and then to glass paint … and then to Gallery Glass. Now GG is something that was a spur of the moment purchase many many years ago and it has never been used, but there on a shelf, carefully lined up by DD, stood the bottles …including the leading. The one thing that was not in sight were the instructions but I rarely let a little thing like that stand in the way of creativity….but I really should.

What I have discovered today is that …..

I really cannot paint glass….
I have no control over the pretend liquid leading (a bit like writing with icing)…
I really have NO patience …
I really should read instructions …
I really do not need another project and ….
The jars will work just as well … unpainted. lol.

Just thought I would share ...

Take Care xx

This post made me laugh Angie hehehe Pity about the paint, but if you want another go perhaps you could use a desing on paper and put it inside the jars as a template then just use ordinary glass paint. Failing that if you want some colour, just paint stripes of colour.

Angie, we could be blood! This would have been me! I've got loads of tips for that horrid liquid lead stuff, but you're probably over it by now..and yes, the clear jars in my garden look gorgeous!!

This did make me chuckle Angie :P How many projects have we all had that ended up like that? I love the Douwe Egbert jars too ;)

I can certainly empathise with you on that one! Glass paints and me do NOT work together!

Try gluing ripped up pieces of mulberry paper to the glass (cover the whole jar) I use PVA glue to fix. just before it is dry i throw a handful of glitter att he glue. they look really pretty once dry with a tealight candle inside. our garden is full of them.

oh yesyesyeyesyes!!!(sorry, got excited then!) I've used OXO gravy powder jars..they don't use glass jars now, in fact, come to think of it, I haven't seen oxo powder in cardboard containers either for ages. anyway I used glass paint on them and they looked (Like oxo jars, said hubby) lovely!!!
