Good Bye Maddie

Our Dear Maddie
July 2000 - 24th May 2012

While I was away dear Maddie became worse and showed signs of distress and pain and so my daughter took her for her last journey before she made her way to Rainbow Bridge ...met I am sure by those wonderful felines of ours that have gone before. I had said my good byes as I had my doubts that she had much more time with us and for that I was thankful. Apparently her parting was serene and almost beautiful ...like the beautiful cat that she was.
When she was a tiny kitten she woulds sit in my daughters pocket and go for walks and car rides with her ... she was an amazing mother and grandmother...she even lactated when her daughter found it hard to feed and care for her unexpected kittens. She fell in love with our Felix the day he arrived ....father to her litter ... and they were inseparable until the last few months of her life when she seemed to encourage him to become close to Rosie. Felix is one of the only cats Rosie tolerates.
As  Maddie left the house for her journey to Rainbow Bridge, she  called out to the others in a voice my daughter had never heard before and for the next 48 hours there was a strange air amongst them all ... I feel she was their Queen but I am not sure who is next in line and maybe that is the problem ...neither do they.

Take Care. xx

I'm so sorry to hear of Maddie's passing. Cats have such wonder and mystery about them. I love the way she encouraged her mate to become friends with another kitty to help him not be so lonely.
It's so hard to get through the loss of such a wonderful girl. I hope remembering the good times and all the love she gave you can be a comfort at such a sad time.
HUGS!!!

Aww Angie, I am so very sorry. We have to be grateful for the time we get to spend with them but dang it, it hurts so bad when they leave. Share your love among those left for they will be grieving also.
Sending hugs.

They definitely know when it's their time. What a beautiful cat in appearance and also personality.

I hope the others sort themselves out without her.

Big hugs Angie x

When this post popped up in my preview window several days ago I thought of all the partings we've experienced over the years of having cat companions.
It is so hard to let them go even when we know the time has come and their quality of life has diminished.
Cats seem to have a strange, almost uncanny 'knowing' when one of their household goes away--I've witnessed rather strange and anxious behavior on the part of the cats left behind. The responsibility of 'head cat' is quite important--and maybe Maddie didn't designate a successor.

What a wonderful pusscat your Maddie was. I wonder whether she will fall head over heels with my Toby who was a handsome boy indeed. One thing is for sure, she has many, many new friends now.

Oh Angie, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss of Maddie.
It’s never an easy decision to have to make, I know because I had to do the same for my beloved Emily but deep down we know that it’s for the best and it sounds as if she was ready herself, bless.

Sending you my love as you cope with your loss, and remember all the joy and laughter that she gave you in the years you had her.
